2014 Subaru Forester 241 HP with same features as 2017 at 40% less cost

It is more fun with four wheels.

Yesterday, I viewed a Pearl White Subaru being sold at 40% off the regular price with same features as 2017 at Santolan. It has 44 km to its odometer and packs a whopping 241 hp (it is a turbo powered car)  One of the dream car AWD, powerful and torquey.  (350 nM)

I underestimated the 4x4 off road capabilities of our Subaru Forester

Life is short; enjoy the great outdoors

My daughter led a project to buy a new car, Subaru Forester 5 years ago.  I was not very enthusiastic because I thought it is not strong enough or 4x4 capable as I wished it to be. I was used to the bullet proof, robust build of CJ, TLC or LRs.   She said she wanted this car for several reasons:  fuel economy, (10 km/liter) high ground clearance, it is an AWD and can be depended in times of flood,  high HP output (165 hp) and is comparable to our BMW 320i power output, and is an automatic.  It was competitively priced at P1.2  vs Pajeros and Patrol which were at P1.4 to P1.5 million at that time. The Motorimage dealership dealer had just made its debut in the PHL

It did not enter my mind as I have seen the latest video on its off road capability that it is an expert in 1. steep hill climb   2. river crossing 3.  snow   4. deep muds.   It seemed to me that its AWD asymetrical drive system and boxer engine are its sterling capability.

Its main use for me was for teaching chores in Laguna and Pampanga for a graduate school business driving at 140 kmh or more at night driving home

I now respect our Subaru Forester more.

What would have been a desireable purchase would be the PHP 2 million + WRX Impreza or STI.  But then the best AWD is Forester or the Outback.

                                     Now it looks even more beautiful than a Def 110

                                  It looks macho mean offroad machine to me now;  not a ladies car

Subaru forester - the best of the best video

We are owners of Subaru foresters. Arent we glad, own one of the best 4x4. I had two best all ready: RR and Subaru.   I think Subaru is giving TLC and RR a run for the customers money.  Subaru could be an everyday car, and on week end, an offroader.  It looks nice, it is comfortable, and easy to drive.

The acquisition cost is very affordable.  Its cost is just a cost of a pick up.  So why buy a pick up when you can have a Subaru.  Its fuel economy is tops.  It gets 9 to 11 km to a liter, even for a 2.0 liter engine.

It runs quietly.  I might be wrecking its starter because many times I turn on the starter, but its engine is all ready running.  It runs so smoothly, that if you do not look at the rpm dial, you may mistake the engine is dead.

The best of the best no longer just applies to RR, or LR

Subaru AWD - how does this compare with other 4x4

The second car we bought and use (now 5 year old) is Subaru Forester AWD.   It is a 2 liter normally aspirated 160 kph beast.  It drives just like BMW 320i is sprightly and fast.  We bought this as alternative to other SUV we have (for flood prone areas). High ground clearance.

Here is how Subaru performs vs. other AWD vehicles;
