10 reasons why Chevy Colorado is the 4x4 you should buy?

It is more fun with four wheels.

Chevy Colorado

I had a meeting with a contractor last time.  He is a jv partner to a real estate project and was seeking my assistance, and owns a river quarry in Calabarzon.   When asked about his pick up truck, he said he just bought a Chevy Colorado 4x4.

He says that it has 500 nm of torque and about 200 hp, six speed transmission and dial controlled 4x4.  That is great!  I was boasting of the D max, a relative of Colorado.  It has VGT turbo and intercooler for level torque and sustained power.

The Colorado comes in two variants of Duramax engine:  the 2.5 liter with 163 hp and little lower torque:   380 nm.

The 4x4 version has the 2.8 engine that deliver 200 hp and 500 nm of torque that comes with VGT. (This matches the output of Ford Wildtrak)  I hope the Chevy Colorado sales take off.  For those who want power and performance, Chevy Colorado is the 4x4 pick up to acquire.

"At the heart of every Chevy Colorado is the new Duramax engine that comes in 2.5L and 2.8L displacements. The four-cylinder Duramax engine has been subjected to the same set of rigorous tests, under tough and varying engine loads as the V8 Duramax engine, in Africa, Asia and North and South America.

Both 2.8L 4x4 variants (manual and automatic) come with a Common Rail Direct Injection system and Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) with intercooler that provides efficient power delivery across the rpm band. It is capable of producing 200 hp at 3,600 RPM and 500 Nm at 2,000 RPM when mated to the Colorado’s six-speed automatic transmission. The six-speed manual transmission 4x4 variant produces 440Nm @ 2,000 RPM.

The 2.5L four-cylinder 16-valve 4x2 version has 163 hp at 3,600 RPM and delivers 380 Nm at 2,000 RPM. The 2.5L version also has a six-speed manual transmission variant.

Optimized to deliver high torque at low rpm, both Duramax engines are suited for heavy duty applications – from transporting to hauling heavy loads without sacrificing performance. The Chevrolet Colorado has a 3.5 ton towing capacity and is capable of carrying over a ton of payload weight.

The Colorado 4x4 variants come with electric drive mode select that allows the operator to choose between two different 4x4 modes as well as 2-wheel drive. Shifting of drive modes while on the fly is possible up to the speed of 100 km/hr.

Most Powerful In Its Class

 KEY HIGHLIGHTS
The Duramax engine is available in 2.5-liter and 2.8-liter displacements. It is expected to provide the best torque and acceleration in its class.
The 2.8L engine sports a Variable Geometry Turbocharger that makes it the industry's most powerful and fuel efficient diesel offering in its displacement class.
The Colorado is equipped with state-of-the-art control modules (Engine Control Module, Transmission Control Module and Electronic Brake Control Module) which ensure efficient and responsive vehicle operation.
The Duramax engine is made of top grade materials that are geared to promote durability and performance. Its pistons are coated with graphite to reduce friction and power losses.
The Duramax engine has a die-cast aluminum cylinder head for weight reduction resulting in enhanced fuel efficiency and ultimately reducing NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) levels.
The Duramax engine uses the newest Common Rail Direct Injection System (CRDi) that delivers high pressure and precision controlled diesel injectionresulting in fuel efficiency, reduced harmful emissions and less engine vibration.
