When you go off roading (4x4) there must be added ingredient: being wise and ingenious. So it should be 5x4. You have to mind:
1. Your vehicles capability, and your abilities;
2. Your reportoire of tactics;
3. Your companion;
4. The terrain and the weather.
5. Your safety.
You have to ride smart and safe. Not all adventures should be taken foolishly. I admire Dale for this. For instance, after a heavy rain, when we were in Sta Ines, Tanay, he advised us not to ford a raging river, even though a 6x6 truck was able to pass through. (It was loaded and heavy). We forget that even a 10 kph river current, if say a meter deep has enough force to carry a l ton 4 x4 suv. (We should remeber this even in city streets when we are caught in a flood) We might find ourselves carried to Quezon and at the Pacific Ocean. We decided to let the current subside and crossed the river at about 11 pm. It was dark and we had to winch our way back because of the deep mud from the logging truck passing.
One of the blessings of that waiting was we had wild pig pork roast dinner.
